Spinster in stress, terrible transport situation

Hi, my frustration is related to the following. I'm prematurely aged, with terrible feet, severe varicosities, and spinal osteoarthritis, among a lot more conditions, none of which were ever helped by myriad visits to professed specialists (all they do is "talk".

I also lack a car due to severely limited budget, so i walk approximately a mile per week with a 1950s grandma-style shopping cart to local shopping, thus the object of thousands of stares from locals. Aside from it taking a further huge toll on my legs and feet.

Not to mention the local high-density traffic & pedestrians, dodging wild drivers & bicyclists, steep/icy hills, bad sidewalks. It's hell.

When i asked various bike-shops if they can assemble something like the below for me (albeit with some variations suited to my needs), they either cited legal concerns as a cop-out, or else more candidly stated that in this age of mass-production they didn't feel like bothering with custom-making things the way they did in past years. They said it's not worth their while.

I'm aware of the J950 scooter basket as well as MobiVans, but not sure how compatible those might be Vs. the below for my situation (albeit with variations).

scooter for you

Medicare will no longer pay for scooters. I got a new one for my mom on ebay several years ago for a bit under $700 shipped to her home.

You might look at a used/second hand one and since you'll be outside on sidewalks I would suggest a 4-wheel one for stability. Caution though - these cannot be used in the rain.

Government subsidized Scooters?

Depending on where you reside, contact your local government and see what type of assistance they might provide on this....where I live there is support for this type of situation.
