Mom with Dementia at My Home for a Year Now

by Linda
(Winchester)

It started a few years ago when mom was over medicating on a heart murmur medication. I didn't visit that often because of transportation issues and money. I started inviting them over more and both mom and stepfather would be here every weekend.

The last trip she looked like she was ready to die. I was contemplating taking her to the emergency room when my older sister showed up. We then took her to the hospital. She was diagnosed with Dejocxin poisoning. They started detoxifying her and she started feeling better. She was ready to go then and she threw a fit and pulled her IV out. Blood started pouring out of her arm and she calmed down a bit. The doctor and nurses ran away. We were left standing there shocked. We got our senses together and left with mom.

My stepfather took her home and the next day called 911. Mom got better from that but lost her mind. She is totally demented and has lived with me over a year now. My older sister lives thirty minutes away, and has visited 3 times.. No call no nothing.

I am resenting my family big time. I don't know what to do except just keep doing what I'm doing. There has got to be a better way.
