My 87 year old mother has lived alone since my father died 18 years ago. She says she hates being alone but refuses to move anywhere else and she is very impatient and wants to be with people all the time, but then complains that she doesn't like anyone and is nasty to many of them. She invents illnesses and wants everyone to pander to her, she then complains they're not doing things her way.

My sister and I have families and lives of our own and are exhausted with her constant complaints. We've encouraged her to join many clubs and try different activities - she tries some then complains she doesn't like them and/or the people there.

We are close to screaming :(
