Free Paper Crafts

Our elderly parents and grandparents deal with a variety of physical or mental limitations, but engaging in crafts is good for entertainment and enhancing quality of life – not to mention it helps with cognitive growth.

It doesn’t cost a lot of money to find some fun, easy crafts to accommodate the needs of a loved one – in fact, free paper crafts are found all over the Internet and can always be adapted depending on the physical condition of a loved one, such as poor vision or limited dexterity.

Since scissors are often hard for frail or elderly family members to use, it’s often best to find crafts that don’t take a vast number of tools.

One of the most popular free paper crafts ideas to use is scrapbooking layouts or making cards. Depending on the time of year, a senior and caretaker can engage in making holiday or special occasion cards using precut cards from the craft store and a variety of craft paper and embellishments.

Also, creating handmade cards is a great way to encourage creativity and get a loved one into a holiday or celebratory mood.

Scrapbooking is always a fun way to pass time and gives seniors a chance to look through pictures, share stories and strengthen cognitive skills.

It also creates a unique bonding time between you and your family member! There are plenty of free paper craft ideas online, including making colorful collages with pictures or using scrap paper to cover small boxes to use for organization or gifts.

Engaging in Elderly Crafts is Important
by: Linda

Crafting is really important to keep seniors feeling creative and occupied, though many families are on a limited budget.

Free paper crafts make it possible to engage in artistic activities without worrying about spending too much money, plus there are often many ways to recycle papers around the house such as old magazines and newspaper – a great way to get rid of excess clutter in the process.
