Disabled Myself and Trying to Take care of my Mother!

by Michael
(Roseville Michigan, Mocomb County)

I'm 48 and was injured about 10 years ago. Now my mom is (73 and weighs over 300lbs. As of now she is in a rehabilitation center because she fell in the bathroom and all of the sudden she can't walk! Well tomorrow they are kicking her out because Medicare will only pay for 20 days. So now I'm going to be her trying to take care of her in a little 2 bedroom apartment. I don't know what I'm going to do I have never been thru nothing like this before. Does anybody know where and how I can get HELP! I'm in Michigan

Contact your town office
by: Bittersweet

You are in desperate need of help. I urge you to call your town office and inquire about senior assistance.

In Massachusetts we have Bristol Elders who steps in to help. I'm sure your town or county offers something. Don't wait..you need to do this right away. There is help out there, you just need to ask. Good luck!

Medicare Michigan
by: Anonymous

Contact your local Medicare/Medicaid office to see if there are programs locally that can help ease some of the burden...sometimes a county will have programs that can help as well...it will take some digging on your part but could be well worth it for help to be brought in perhaps.
Good Luck!!
