Caring for my Mother who is 84 Years Old

by Valerie
(Princeton, TX)

I've been doing this for three years with no help from either of my sisters....
I'm tired and I feel trapped. My husband has been in remission for two years from lung cancer...He had a collapsed lung in January and a pacemaker in April. My mother had major surgery in May. I had back surgery a year and a half ago. I have let my own health go.

I don't feel like leaving the house without my mother. She chokes every time she eats. Her esophagus no longer works. My two sisters have a million excuses why the cant take her for a month to give me a break. They also think I deserve no money for taking care of her....we pay for most of her stuff.

I'm at my wits end and it's beginning to take its toll on our marriage. we are unable to go anywhere alone.
