Barmy and Put Upon

by Alison B
(England)

My partners mother is staying with us after the elder alcoholic brother who lived in her house with her was found dead in the bathroom after 3 days! The house is a death trap pardon the pun and I couldn't leave her there so she came to us on a temporary basis. 3 months later and she's still here, she has been diagnosed with mid stage mixed dementia and smokes 40 to 50 fags a day which in itself is a challenge.

She needs 24 hour care and support which she gets from me . The family are useless and have been for the previous 18 months when her daughter was living with her dealing with the drunk brother , working and trying to cope with my help for an old lady who at best is mean at worst abusive.

Whilst I know it's the dementia I'm sick and tired of her in my home and my relationship I feel put upon and used and resent this woman that I have no emotional bond with. She needs to go to a care home for proper care as they have been advised bit do you think they will do....well NO ! I'm ready to bail !
